Unhappy Rear Door Locks Broke-Help!

I have a 2001 Cherokee sport and the right rear door lock broke a few months ago (pushing in the door handle button from the outside I get no resistance and the door won't open, also it seems the inside door lock/unlock paddle is stuck in between lock and unlock). Today my back driver side door lock in malfunctioning. I feel resistance from the outside handle but the door will still not open, it also appears the lock/unlock paddle is stuck between lock/unlock as well. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what may be the problem and how I can fix it? thanks for your help.

its one of those jeep things.... way more common in the older models than it is in the newer models.... every one of my older model XJ's rear doors either failed to open over time or failed to open from the day i got them....

you'll have to pull the door panel and take out the door latch... either replace it or go for a good cleaning/overhaul.... after the grease and lube wear out the latch gums up and sticks......

OK.... so how do you get the door panels off? I removed two bolts near the handle and one near the lock, it doesn't seem to budge.

Around the edge of the door theres plastic tabs that are attached to the door panel and push into holes in the door. I used a flat blade screwdriver that I bent at a 45 deg angle about 2 in from the end to reach between the door panel and door. Slid it around the edge till I found a tab and pried the panel away from the door.

Can this be done from the inside? My door will not open no matter what I do.
