Hey guys, I haven't had my Jeep Cherokee long and today I am feeling really stupid. I finally opened up the back dome light to replace the bulb (light not operational) to find no bulb.

That is fine, so i go to AutoZone to purchase the bulb and it calls for 561 bulb type. Instantly looking at the bulb I know it isn't right. It has loops for hook type connectors, I looked at it my 99 XJ has the round snap spots. So I start searching online and find that everyone says the 99 XJ should use a 561 type bulb. What am I missing here?

 

Do you have a picture of the rear dome?

It SHOULD take the 561 because I ahve a 99 and I have the 561 connectors which are standard, it might have had a replacement dome..

 

I just did the same exact thing the other day but my old bulb was still there. The difference was that the new bulb didn't have the round metal ends but was otherwise identical. I pulled the metal ends off the old bulb and put them on the new bulb and it's working fine. I was confused as to why the new bulbs where different too......
