Hi All! I have a 2000 xj, the rear bumper is rusting under the paint,large bubbles etc. Bought vehicle used so don't know if car was ever rear ended,body etc,don't show any signs of it,also has what I assume is factory installed trailer hitch. My question,how the hell does one get to the mounting bolts behind bumper?? It looks like trim under tailgate has to be removed for access?? I would like to remove bumper to properly get rid of rust and repaint. HELP!!!

Take off the end caps. Reach in and unbolt them. Your trunk should have to open to do any of that
