Real quick question before a purchase.
So, short a simple, I want to upgrade the speakers in my '91 XJ. The driver-side is nearly shot, etc. I know they are 5.25" in front and back (and no, not really wanting to modify for 6.5" anywhere). I found some BOSS 3-way 450W speakers on ebay, brand new. I need to know:
Is there any specific wattage I need to look for/ avoid?
Does this sound like a good deal?
Do I need an adapter for the speaker wires? I have a new head-unit in the XJ if that matters.
Thanks eveyone.

Yes they will work. See if you can find a picture from the side and see how far the tweeter sticks out...it may hit the door panel when you put it back on.

How far out can the tweeter go before it hits the panel? And even if it does can't I just modify the door panel? I think it would look pretty good with the speaker sitting out.

hey man... check out http://www.crutchfield.com ....it'll give you sizing and choices and you can go from there.... good luck!
p.s. "450W" doesn't mean anything! look for RMS watts and check to see what your hu drives - max. RMS (the speaker should handle at least 10-20 watts more than hu) and load/resistance (you probably have 4 ohm but make sure, it can be 2 ohm) - also go to local bestbuy and listen to 3-way vs. 2-way - i'd spend more on a quality 2-way than a 3-way...

All the speakers in my 97 were blown when I bought it. i picked up 4 of these for about $147.
No amp, just the aftermarket head unit that was in the truck when I bought it. Plenty of sound to override open windows and not bad bass response from little speakers. I'm happy with them. Installation took a little drilling for mounting screws, but nothing major.
