I recently got a set of used RE lowers, got the reasonable cheap but thr problem is bolt and end part won't turn. My question is is the threads on the lowers reverse threaded? The uppers are not but wasn't sure about the lowers. If Not what other can i do to get tthem loose? i have tried heat, bolt buster, and two 24in pipe wrenches. Any suggestions?

did you loosen the jam nut?

 

THey are not reverse threaded. loosen the jam nut. stick a long screw driver in the flex joint and along screw driver in the bushing. stand on the bushing end and turn the large screw driver in the flex joint end. It takes a bit of effort.

 

Think thats my next step. Its jammed tight. I have had it in a vice with a pipe wrench and a pipe on the other end of the wrench and nothing.

 

ended up getting a buddy with a big tourch heated the nut up till it was blazing and finially broke loose

X2...this is what i did with my old short arms, worked great

 

now put anti-seize on those threads.

 

Ill do on the anti-sieze. I have drop brackets on now. Would it be better to keep them on with the new controll arms to take them off?

 

how high of lift are you running

 

definitely keep them on.
just adjust the new control arms to stock length. i think it's like 15 7/16 or something like that.
you can google the lengths online.
