Hey guys would like to see if any of you can give me an answer for this problem that has just happened to my 2000 xj I will try to be as specific as possible

So about a week ago I started to hear a rattling noise while driving my Jeep thinking nothing of it after a couple days of driving with this rattling noise I did some research and ended up seeing things about “flex plate knock” so this past weekend my cousin and I thought to try to tighten the flex plate bolts and turns out they were all tight and we’re not loose, we moved to the front of the engine where the sound was loud but I didn’t notice where the sound was coming from because I was just confused in general, my cousin originally thought I spun a bearing in the engine but that’s not the case I think because we got some lubricant and sprayed most of the pulleys and the sound went down almost gone and after a while it started again we think it is my water pump that is shot or the fan clutch pulley bearing ? Let me know what you think thanks

Take the belt off and spin the pully's by hand. if one is bad you'll know it.

And take a close look at the harmonic balancer.

With the conduction of noise it can be challenging to locate the source sometimes. Cruiser has a pic of a mechanic's stethoscope on file

Pulley sounds are common- you can take the belt off and start the engine for a brief moment: noise gone? Likely belt driven component the cause.
Check pulleys for noise as well as play.

Quote: Standard replacement is fine.
If it works in Phoenix this week it'll work anywhere.
