Random stalling......need help
 

Ok so 4 days ago I cleaned the engine compartment with soap and water. Started it up, and it ran fine. Drove it later that day and while sitting at idle it stalled out on me, and wouldn't start for 10 mins. 20 miles down the road It did it again pulling into a parking lot. 10 mins, and it started right up. Got home took apart all sensors around the TB and cleaned all the connections, and odds and ends. Took out all the relays in the fuse box and made sure all the connections were clean. Jeep drove fine for 2 days. Then this morning it did it again while coasting to a stop light.

12 Batt Diss
35 Cooling fan relay short
75?
73?
55 end of fault codes
I know what all of them are, but 73 75. They shouldn't exist. I've had 3 other Chrysler vehicles, so i know how to read the codes. I have checked them 20 times now, and 73 75 keep coming up.

New fuel pump, and filter 2k ago.
new spark plugs and distributer 2k ago.

When i try to start it after it stalls it'll sputter a little here and there, but won't start. after 10 mins or so it starts and drives fine. I'm thinking CPS, TPS, or bad ground on the fuel pump. HELP! please

how much water did you spray around the dist cap aera see if theres moisture in it

Just double checked. It's dry as a bone, no cracks in it either.

your right those codes do not exist some connector has to be wet some where water in fuel injector plugs ?

That all looks dry too. I'm thinking the Crankshaft Sensor now. when i unplug it the jeep shuts off just like it does when it stalles on me.

anyone else? I don't have the hard starting when cold issues that i am reading about that are associated with it.

I just had the same issue with my 87, it was the CPS. Althought it was a pain to get to i would recommend spraying WD-40 all over the electronis int he engine bay and letting it dry. If you didnt know WD-40 removes moisture. That is a sure fire way to see if its caused by water. If that doesnt work change the CPS. Took me about an hour to do it total.

mine did the same thing and it was the throttle positioning sensor. changed and it ran like a champ! also if that doesnt work check your O2 sensors

If it was an o2 sensor he would throw a light or a code for it.

That's what i would think. It's running great when it doesn't stall out on me. Even when i try to start it i Can't smell and fuel or anything. I don't think there is any spark or fuel when i try to start it after a stall.

Easy way to check is to pull a spark plug, leave it in the boot and have someone crank the engine whilst you hold the plug tip to a ground. If you see sparks you have spark. also if you push in on the schrader valve on the fuel rail does fuel come out? Pull your cap and rotor off and see how the rotor bug looks. If it has carbon buildup on it, that could cause a misfire or no fire.

I too am having a problem with stalling. at random times and in bunches, my 1993 jeep stalls out. could be during warm up. coasting to a stop sign. or even while pressing on the throttle. When i try to restart, the jeep won't start.... unless i press on the throttle body plate. i'll press on it all the way down a couple of times. could swear i hear something resetting like the sensor or motor. then it start perfectly, like nothing happened. could go a few days or if damp out might only get a few minutes out of it. No engine light comes up. my thinking is it must be either the throttle body sensor or motor. any thought?

Check your IAT and your relays for your fuel pump and stuff like that. Also check your CPS.

This may sound retarded, but is there a coorelation between the level of gas in your tank and the stalling? I had a Chevy that would sporatically stall if it was less than a quarter tank. Might be grasping at straws, but I vote for the cheap easy fixes.
