Random squealing/whistling sound at highway speeds
Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I bought a 2000 Cherokee Sport 4x4 recently. Today while driving on the highway there was some squealing/whistling noise that seemed to be coming from the back of the Jeep - driver side. It would start randomly and would last any where from a few seconds to a minute and then would go away for a bit. It would get to a pretty high pitch at times. I can only describe it as some kind of a high pitched whistle. I noticed this at highway speeds only. I had the Jeep in 4H all the time. The Jeep was parked outside all week and had not been started and was covered in snow.
About the Jeep: It has 173500 miles on it. I got the radiator, water pump, thermostat and coolant flush done about 3 weeks back. At the same time, I got the wheels aligned and balanced and put a new 800 CCA battery in it. The Jeep also has good-as-new Mesa A/P tires and Wrangler wheels - 255/75/15R.
If anyone has experienced this noise or knows what might be causing it, I would really appreciate some insight into it.
Thanks in advance and best wishes for 2010.

The noise is not there at idle or when the Jeep is stationery and you rev the engine.
