Default Radio wiring problems

Alright so as some of you know, the wiring in the Jeep isn't the best. I got a free headunit from a friend and I attempted at installing it tonight. I ran into a main problem...it doesn't work. I could not find the wiring for an '87, but I was told the '88 is the same. The headunit also came with it's own wiring harness so I just cut the harness in the dash, and wired it directly to the headunit's harness. I will show you how I did it, and if anybody could tell me what the problem is, that'd be great.

Headunit wire colors and meaning:
Power control-blue/white
Motor ant-blue
Dimmer cont-orange/white
Ignition wire-red
Battery wire-yellow
Ground-black

In-dash wire colors and meaning:
Battery constant 12v(+)-pink
Accessory switched 12v(+)-violet/orange
Ground wire-black
Illumination wire-orange/black
Dimmer wire-dark blue/white
Antenna trigger-gray

Sorry for the long post, but this is driving me insane. If anybody could tell me which of those go together, that'd be awesome. I can figure out the wiring to the speakers because it's super easy, but the rest leaves me clueless. Thanks everyone.

you do not need the illumination, dimmer, or power control
the only wires you need for the deck to function correctly are

typical wiring for the deck should be
constant+ yellow
switched+ red
ground - black
left front +white -white black
right front +gray -gray black
left rear +green - green black
right rear +violet -violet black

apparently it changed colors from 87-88 on the constant wire also some decks require you to press the source button to turn on :P

1988-90 Jeep Cherokee Stereo Wiring
Constant 12V+ Pink
Switched 12V+ Purple/Orange
Ground Black
Illumination Orange/Black
Dimmer Dark Blue/White
Antenna Trigger Gray
