radio help
Ok I want to put a new radio on my XJ bc I can only hear AM radio stations,, and I want some CD on there.. how can I take the old one out and what are the cables for me to conecte the new one in..
I know some1 has done this,, thanx:thumbsup: |
Try this http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...750&c=3&tp=457 they have everything you need.
|
Any Circuit City will have all the mounting brackets and wiring you'll need. Everything will for the most part just plug right in. Very minimal cutting and splicing.
|
that helps but,, what Im asking is how can I take the stock radio out? how can I disassemble the dash?
|
Not 100% sure on the Xj but on my Tj there was some screws in the ash tray and on the top of the dash. When you go to pull it off you'll prolly think your gonna break it, then it'll just pop off.
Hopefully that helps. |
It just pops off.

Yup, when I took mine off it scared the **** out of me but yes you do indeed just pull very hard. The piece is held in by plastic clips.
|
so I pull in all the borders, are there any clips on the middle or something,, that may breake?
|
Grab the bottom corners on each side of the trim piece and pretty much pull out and up and it will come right off and no you should not break a thing. If you feel like you are about to break something that means that is about to come off. If people that take their cars to audio shops saw how they work they would probably s*it themselves.
