Exclamation Radio and cig lighter in 1996 cherokee

Someone held my cig lighter in and caused my lighter and radio to stop working. I've had all my fuses checked and even switched out the radio and still nothing. What would be the problem? Expensive fix? Easy fix. Any insight would be awesome.

This actually just happened to me too. I took out a couple things in my dash to figure out bulb sizes for HVAC controls and gauge cluster (cause I wanna change em all to spiffy LEDs). I ended up taking the cigar lighter out and taking it apart for some reason - as in took off the tiny nut on the back of it and completely disassembled it (I guess I was just curious), put it all back together and now no power to radio and lighter. Fuses are fine and it's all connected so I'm going to go pick up another universal lighter assembly from NAPA because I'm pretty sure I messed up the lighter I have now.

As for your issue, I'm not sure. I know the lighter and radio are on the same circuit so you should take apart the dash and recheck all connections. And quadruple check your fuses. Your problem definitely sound like an issue with a fuse

checking fuse also includes using a test light to confirm power on both sides of fuse with key in run position also pretty sure theres two fuses for the radio not one...

Radio takes 12V switched and 12V constant. The constant is to retain the clock and station presets, it's not used for actual operation. The instrument panel one is just for dimmable lighting - aftermarket radios tend to not have this feature.

Sounds like the 12V switched (shared with lighter) has a break or short in it in it if the fuse is okay.
