Default Radio

Tonight i upgraded my head unit and i wired up the 2 rear speakers, 2 front, and the 2 tweeter speakers under the dash. So when the key is turned on the speakers work. When i start the jeep the speakers don't work?? The memory saves. And the head unit works perfect. But the only way i can get the sound in the speakers, i turn the key off, wait till i hear a click sound under the hood, then i turn the key on i hear the fuel pump on and the speakers work. But when i turn the key off then on without waiting for the click under the dash speakers don't turn on. I tried to explain that best i can. 1990 jeep cherokee

Got a DVM or test light? Sounds like power is getting cut off. Where did you tap in for power?

Grab the test light and see if either of the 12v+ lines are cutting out when the engine is running.

Thats really strange!
I would say check the connections you made.
Did you solder, crimp, ducttape? the wires together?
How did you make your connections?

The head unit keeps it's memory thanks to the direct battery connection. (pink wire). That is apparently working OK. The unit won't put out sound unless there is power to the "accessory switched" connection. (violet/orange). I think that is where your problem might be.

I'll probably get tared and feathered for this, but if you can't find an answer from Radi (expert in this stuff), try these pukes.

I did the same today on my 95 XJ, mine worked; not sure what could be causing your issues.

Hey Radi i have a question for you, i put 6x9s in the back of my cherokee. There 4 way "dual" 200 watts speakers. I have a dual head unit it says on the box that its 240 watts. My question is will the speakers sound underpowered from the bigger speakers in the back. The front are stock size. With that set up will is sound good?!

I would assume that is 240W MAX power.

That includes all 4 channels.
So 240 divided by 4= 60MAX per speaker.

RMS power is probably more like 100RMS for the 4 channels
Or 100/4= 25RMS is my guess..
Which is the actual power they will be getting.
