From what I an tell, the majority of the people who recommend the cheap plastic tank radiators from Auto Zone seem to do so because of the warranty. You buy it assuming it's going to leak, then replace it when it does, treating it like a regular maintenance item. If it doesn't ever break, yay. Personally, I went through three leaking plastic radiators in three years and decided that was BS, warranty or not. My CSF has been in there for more than three years now with no problems at all.

Even now you see threads with aluminum radiators not fitting right, cooling worse then stock, or cracking quick. But you see that with some garbage stock replacements as well. But it's just like anything else. Do your research and you'll be good.
as far as a a consensus goes, I feel like I found that you had to spend a high amount to get a quality aluminum radiator. But again that is just with someone's own personal research and What specifics they are looking for.

Champion and CSF both make two and three row heavy duty all aluminum radiators that are much thicker than stock and get fairly good reviews on the forums. They run $150 to $200, and you can buy them on Amazon. I'm running a CSF 2671 three row radiator in mine, and so far it seems like a solid product.
The cap is notched for alignment. This needed to turn clockwise to seal...somehow? Granted I did have a thin e-fan shroud underneath the panel, but it couldn't have made the tolerance that bad. Just poor design all-around. And even then I shouldn't have to cut anything just to hook up the trans cooler lines.

The Champion 2 row All-Aluminum Radiator does come with a life time warranty so that's not bad . so it can't be that cheep of a radiator and the price is a good price .I talked to a couple of people that are using this radiator in there XJ's and are very happy with it . they say even when it's 100 or better they can still use the A/C and even when off roading and they do not have hood vents. right now my XJ does not do like it when it's 100 or more I can't sit still without over heating I do have a new fan clutch and my other fan works great I've flushed the cooling system and I have a OTC flush gun that takes water and a air line to help the flush get more stuff out and a cleaner cooling system . I just ordered my Champion 2 row All-Aluminum Radiator I will let you know how it goes after I install it .

Got my radiator installed and the flush done so far so good the temp is holding at the temp of the thermostat . it going to get hotter this next week 100 or better so I will see if the temp stays down and stops running hot I will let every one know how it goes . The Radiator looks good and fits good did not have any problems installing it . fits like the OEM Radiator but it does hold more coolant so the Radiator is larger the core is 2 inch the old Radiator core was 1 1/16 of a inch .

Sounds great, tech!
Let us know how it does in the hotter weather.
Any fan clearance issues with the thicker radiator?

Well after driving my XJ for a week with temps at 100 or better my XJ did great it never went over the thermostat temp 195 and I had the A/C ON high all the time even when sitting in a drive through for about 20 minutes and the temp never went up . the fit is good it has no fan clearance issues . I did not have to modify anything to install the Radiator and my Radiator cap has a better fit I don't have any problems with it like the picture shows .
