Default Radiator Problems

I have a 2001 Cherokee that has a leak in the radiator again! I R&R the radiator last year and now have a leak in the same general location, top passenger side. Anyone else have that problem? Is there a design flaw or am I jus unlucky?

Did you replace it with a new or used radiator?

Yes but they don't want to honor it. I just get the run a round. Last time I go cheap on parts. I was looking to see if anyone else had a similar problem that it might be a design flaw like a bolt rubbing through.

OK, did the radiator fail and spring a leak or did a loose bolt on your jeep rub a hole? A bolt rubbing through isn't a design flaw, as a radiator contains no bolts, If a bolt damaged the radiator that is a installation error. IF it is NOT a bolt, I would start looking for other causes of radiator failure. I get 10+ years out of even a cheap plastic radiator. Has your Jeep been running hot? Is the coolant contaminated with something?

It's leaking in the general vicinity as the first one top passenger side. I couldn't see the leek on the first one and I haven't pulled this one yet. I did a complete flush and fill so I don't thinks it's contamination. It hasn't run hot before or after the leak started. I keeping it filled with distilled water until I replace it.

In every jeep that I have owned the stock rad unit has failed me. As for the warranty if you bought it a year ago it's most likely over. I replaced my rad unit with an aftermarket from Oreilly's auto parts. It's their 3 core copper with aluminum fins.

this is a link to the one that i replaced mine with. Never had an issue with mine until i hit a deer.
