So I've got a hole in my radiator. When I pulled the one out of my parts jeep, the lower trans. cooler line broke off. Now I've got a piece of broken metal almost flush with the bottom of the radiator. Is it possible to tap into this? Anyone had something like this happen? Better off with a new radiator?
Thanks!
Thanks!

So is that lower trans. hose with the quick connect definitely a permenant part of the radiator? The top trans. hose just unbolted from the rad.
I guess I'm stuck getting a new one. I did find some online for good prices at least.

DO NOT JUST BUY AN AFTERMARKET TRANNY COOLER AND LEAVE THE RAD TRANNY LINES BLOCKED OFF. I have seen many people do this thinking it would better since the tranny cooler is dedicated only to the tranny. Big mistake. If you arent moving fast enough to keep air going through that cooler (like slow crawling speeds), your tranny will cook faster than you can say 'o sh-- poop'.
As for your fix, yes the lower portion jutting from the radiator is a perm. part. If your lower hose broke off, and you cant get it out (which the tabs should still be accessible), then a jerry rig fix would be some hose and hose clamps. The long term fix would be replace the lower tranny line and either have a shop pull the piece out or get a new rad.

I was thinking that maybe I could thread in a fitting, use some rubber hose from the fitting to the "cut" QD fitting on radiator side (which will click in), so that way I don't mess with the trans side of the QD in case I get leaks or end up putting in a new radiator.

Ideas that I've come up with:
Buy new radiator (that'd probably work)
Use radiator for coolant, and get an aftermarket trans cooler.
Use radiator for coolant, and possible use AC condenser for trans cooler.
Buy new radiator, and add inline trans cooler.
I'm also keeping in mind my goal to get rid of the AC compressor (relocate the alternator), and I've also heard that getting rid of your mechanical fan will help HP. Right now I've got 1 mechanical fan and 1 electric. I have another working electric from parts. Can I just ditch the mechanical fan and splice the two electrics together and expect adequate power / cooling?
This is for my lifted xj which I have the plans to be a DD / WW.
Thanks!

I was also thinking about doing a dual electric fan setup and ditching the clutch fan to save a little HP, but I believe you'd have to do a little more wiring than just adding the new fan because then they'd be pulling too much power through the relay. Maybe add another relay for the second fan or a heavier duty relay and bigger wire... but I would also like some other people's input on this.
