Default Radiator fluid leak

Noticed a bit of a loud noise when driving today, almost like metal snap sound. Looked underneath, no sign of anything wrong. When I parked up, radiator fluid leaking from just beneath radiator cap (looks like a small outlet just under the thread). Not a continuous leak, did small amount of fluid then stopped now. Wasn't running that hot either, but fan was on.

Any thoughts? Just had fuel pump changed and was running great since then.

Thanks

After further investigation found the hose that goes from the top of the coolant tank/bottle to the pipe under the radiator cap was disconnected - hence the leak. The hose had found its way down in to the fan by the battery. As there 3 plastic housings that normally hold this line in place, can't see anyway it would have come lose, except being disconnected when it was worked on.

If you were doing a fluid flush, would you disconnect this line? And could it have been disconnected for a couple of weeks without me noticing it or a massive loss of coolant fluid? Only an inch or so's worth gone from coolant bottle.

Yes, if a complete flush was done, the bottle could have been removed to empty and clean it out.

if that line was not reconnected, would the cooling system still have worked for around 10 days, with about 20 miles a day driven?
