Default Quote to sandblast and undercoat

Hey guys, I have some rust on the bottom of my cherokee that I just can't get rid of. I don't really want tips on how to get rid of it because I'm ready to have a "pro" do it.

I received a quote from a local very reputable sandblaster in town and they quoted the job at $850 to sandblast and undercoat the bottom. I've already removed the exhaust and gas tank so really I've done all the laborous work. Is this a decent price? They promised to use the "least abrasive" media to do the job effectively, which I think is good being I don't need a hole blasted through the bottom of my jeep.

Opinions?

Awesome. Thanks. Its a lot of $, but I guess thats the going rate. I know I'm tired of putting in my time to stop it so Ill probably pay it. The same company sandblasted and undercoated the bottom of my truck bed and did a good job. They also charged my only $100 about 6 years ago!! I'm thinking they gave me a deal though. Looks more like it now.

Default What was the result?

Just wondering what the final result was? Did you go through with it and get it sand blasted and undercoated? I have been looking at different options, being out here in Hawaii salt spray causes a lot of corrosion problems, I have plans to strip the carpet inside and have do the spray on bedliner on the interior, but have also considered the underside of the jeep also.

I just posted this yesterday, so I haven't done anything yet. I'm rather certain I'm going to get it sandblasted and undercoated though. It may be a month or so, but I'll post pics when its done. The place I'm having do it does reconditioning on 18-wheeler cabs and trailers and has a very good reputation.

I will tell you I did a spray in bedliner on the inside much like you and I'm going to put vinyl "carpet" on top. Just wanted to say that you may just want to paint it if you are putting carpet on top. The rust continually pops through the bed liner and I have to scrap and re-spray. It takes more rust to show through the bedliner to I wish I'd just painted it so I could catch it faster.

Rust on this thing is a pain in the rear! I've tried almost all the tricks and nothing seems to be working to even slow it down. Good luck.

This Mechanic i worked with for a few years... about 20 years ago... had a old cadilac convertable.. loved to drive it on the worlds most famouse beach... every week he would open hood.. and pour a bottle of transmission fluid infront of the radiator fan.. while the engine was runing... We would laugh are ***** off watching him.. and the smoke.. but.. it had no rust what so ever under hood or under car...LOL
