Question Quick rust question

I have noticed recently that there is some rust on the underside of my jeep. If I repair that rust from the bottom, do I still have to worry about ripping out the carpet and cleaning rust from the inside too? I hardly get the inside of my jeep wet and I am curious if rust on the underside automatically means rust on the cabin side also. (my rust is not terribly looking either) Any thoughts are appreciated.

^^^ He's right. It depends on severity of rust. If it truely is underside serface rust than no worries on inside. Doesn't mean it wouldnt be a good idea to check it out though.

Are they notorious for rusting through the floors?

I went and looked at a 93 1-owner XJ 88k miles that had huge rust holes through the floors, granted it was in WI and Im sure they salt the roads constantly...I walked. Just wondering how common it was.

from what I've read it is VERY common to have some rust on the floor pans.

Angry

I have some bad news. I spent a few hours sanding down rust on the floor pans of the Jeep today and have three spots where the carpet is showing through. One is about the size of a baseball and the other the size of a quarter. The rust war has just begun!
