I need to replace my exhaust pipe and can see the manifold-to-pipe threads have rotted thin and have 100% chance of breaking. Once I get the manifold off to replace them I will be have no way to the parts store (I only have one vehicle). Can anyone tell me the stud thread size/pitch and length so I can buy them before starting the job. Thanks.

Dorman makes the drive studs you need. Sold at most parts stores.
When I replaced mine I found that the factory had spot welded the heads of the drive studs to the flange on the manifold. Had to use a Dremel cutoff wheel to get rid of the hex head on the studs then grind them down flush with the flange. Also had to heat the flange big time to drive the old studs out.
In any case, they are 3/8-16" threads.
Fastenal sells 3/8-16" Stainless Steel Serrated Flange Nuts (SKU 0170877) that I recommend using.

Thanks for the reply. I have got heat and grinder so that isn't a problem. I will use stainless studs and bolts if I can find some locally. ACE and HD have stainless fasteners. I will have to see if they have studs.

Why not use those Dorman drive studs?
If you are going to use bolts you should try and get 1-3/4" length. The Dorman studs , when installed are about 1-11/16" long, and they have but very little threads showing beyond the nuts when the downpipe is installed.
When using standard bolts you'll need to figure out how to hold the hex head of the bolt when installing/torqueing the nuts.

I found a Dorman Double Ended Stud - 3/8-16 x 3/4 In. and 3/8-16 x 2 In., but can't find it locally. Maybe a bit longer than stock but that can't hurt. I sure glad I asked you guy's opinions otherwise I could be without a ride for a week.

CCKen, glad for your post. It made me realize I did not state a year and engine. Mine is a 1988 with a 6 banger. The part you suggested shows compatibility with newer models only.

Finding a listing for the right stud was as hard as finding the right listing for the exhaust pipe: Most sights say your stud only fits back to 1991. Only digging into several sites shows it fits back to 84. Thanks CCKen
