Default questions on coil spacers and adjustable shackles

i want to buy these 2in coil spring spacers and the 2in rough country adjustable drop shackles. CAUSE THAT would put me at 6.5 lift so i can fit 35 inch tires. but do i need to replace the shocks or will they work. also will i need to replace anything else like brake lines etc. cAN I STILL run 35s on stock axles and stock gears. i have a 99 xj

yeah you'll have to regear for sure you most likely have 3:55 i'd run no taller than 4:88 and your definately going to want to cut your fenders if you plan to flex at all... brake line will be necessary... i prefer rubber lines (made at the local oil service shop only cost 17$ a pice) your going to want different shocks too...

there is a bunch of threads about all this stuff i'd just read read read...

That stock rear axle (dana 35) is a real weak point too.. i'd look on craigslist and find a dana 44 rear from a 89 or older cherokee .. makes for a direct swap... or a 8.8" they come with discs and are a fairly simply swap

alot of the guys I've talked to want 250 a piece for labor on regearing the axles. then add parts. As for the shocks, if you had rough country shocks that were for 6.5 inches of lift they'd work fine. But I would think those ones you have will cost you 2 inches of droop.

if your regearing you may want to consider locker options, either for now or in the future.

you have a SYE? if not you'll need one. Im doing the same thing to my jeep. I got 4.5in of lift and actually got the same RC 2in budget boost lift to add on to mine. HOWEVER, I started doing research and I put the whole lift idea off for awhile. I dont have a SYE yet and to do the lift I need one. Also the control arms become an issue. If you have short arms on yours I would suggest going to long arms or atleast control arm drop brackets. So now I gotta save up for a long arm kit, new shocks and an SYE kit (around $1300) before I install my 2in lift I got for $90.... I thought it was going to be a cheap lift, my mistake.

definitely the reason I haven't set my ideas in stone yet. Too many things to mess up and I can't afford to buy another vehicle.

Not to hijack the thread but what's the best lift size/brand to use if I plan to occasionally tow a Dodge Shadow w/ a 2 wheel tow dolly? Maybe even my other XJ if the need occurs. I just don't want to destroy a lift w/ a stupid mistake.
