Questions about cat converters
So I realized I hear all this about cats, and I haven't a clue about them. Can anybody give me a rundown on it?
-- I heard cutting the catalytic converter off will make my exhaust sound much more louder and nicer.
-- Also, somebody told me selling a catalytic converter to a junkyard will go for a lot of money.
Any help? Total noob here.

Modern engines are designed to have the back pressure from a cat. If you have two O2 sensors, you will need it. You can get high flow cats that work well. If you want a louder exhaust, there are several mufflers you can get that do the job. It is also illegal to remove a cat from a licensed vehicle.

Also removing a cat converter is illegal and discussion of removing them is prohibited on this site. So leave it on and get a good quality high flow converter and call it a day. Mother earth will thank you.
