i have a used block that i got for free and i want to put it in my XJ. it needs a new cam and lifters. all of the rotary assembly is good. can i put a new cam in this block without changing the cam bearings? the old ones look good. If i need to change bearings, what is involved? i have never done this before.
working with a 2000 XJ, the block involved came out of a 2001 xj. the reason i got it the previous owner rolled their jeep. when they flipped it back over i was ticking loudly. i found nearly all of the lifters in the engine were collapsed. so i pulled the cam. and i want to replace it.
