Default Question: Horn honks 3 times when I turn key to start the Jeep

I have a 99 XJ Classic, with automatic locks. I noticed that my battery cable connection was loose and both were rather dirty so I dis-connected both of them and hit em' with a wire brush to clean the terminals and but everything back together.

However now when I turn the key and the power comes on my horn honks three short times like it does when I am unlocking the doors with the remote. Everything runs fine .. just this little extra honking that is new.

It did not do this until today.

I realize that by disconnecting both cables from the battery that I reset some things.. but this one puzzles me.

Also when I had the positive connected, and touched the negative cable to the terminal the alarm system went off.

Sorry .. a bit of a noobie to my XJ. Just got it in March this year.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I could not find anything using the search function that fit my scenario.

Thanks,

Chris
