Might be a little tight, the fuel filler neck is there, limited space.

Thats where the stock speakers are located, I don't see any reason that with some Fab work you couldn't make em fit

Then I guess they changed it. in my 91 the stock mounting location for speakers in the rear is the back hatch

Yep the 97-01 XJ's are in a soundbar in the top,. There is alot of stuff in the driver side panel to install a box on that side. I was gonna make mine across from each other also until I took the panel off and saw how it was made. I changed my mind.

I was thinking about putting a 10 under the back seat.... probly on the driver side.. Anyone ever try this? I looked at some shallow subs, never really had the chance to put them in

I think this is what your talking about

Its called an XJ pod, i was about to get one, but realised good speakers will do,,

and fitting a sub under the back sit is very tight and i doubt most subs will fit

I hear that those rattle like crazy and are not worth the money at all. Plus they only hold an 8". I made one and have had a few on here wanting one. Mine holds a 10" and I could prolly even get a 12" in there. My box is actually sealed air tight and not one rattle either. Of course mine is bolted into the body inside the panel,. Then I trimmed it out.

Heres my setup!

It could prolly be done but would be a whole lot of cutting and modding to make it work. Your tail light wiring is in there too.

The driver side is mostly sheet metal and a wad of wires inside of it. The cubby side is all open with nothing in the way. I may break down and try and do one for the driver side to match my other one. I have prolly about 8 hours or so in the box and the complete install.

I may start a thread on it to see interest. I think I am running out of work at my Job right now so maybe I will have some time to make some up if people want them.
