Default question about oil pan

i just removed my oil pan and in the process i seemed to have scratched and gouged up the mating surface i just bought a rubber gasket for it should i use seal on it also?

maybe a light coat. Dose the gasket have ribs?

Yeah it has ribs, right next to the lungs! LOL J/K J/K!

I would just use a little bit of emery cloth, and sande around the mating surface with it to clean it up a little. You COULD use a very small amount of RTV around the mounting surface but I wouldn't IMO
