Default question about mpg upgrades

ok so ive been reading this forum everyday and i see some things that catch my eye, things that increase economy and make jeeps run better

here are some things i want to know about (keep in mind my 2000 runs fine, gets decent mileage right now (about 17-18)

what is this throttle position sensor? where is in on a 2000 4.0? how much does it cost? does it take alot of know how to fix?

also what is a cps? alot of threads about fixing that and noticing better economy.

i just cleaned my throttle body today really good and put 2 new o2 sensors in, along with a napa gold air filter and a can of seafoam in the tank.

what else can i do to improve mileage, that dont require a ase certificate?

Cold air intake and new injectors will do the trick as well

If I got 275 I'd be really happy.

Talking jeep

haha yea i think this is one of those things

"if it aint broke, dont fix it deals"

i can live with my mileage, i see to new injectors, but im no mechanic, i can do basic stuff, but thats about it...new injectors seem like something you can screw up really bad

maybe i did everything i could to for mileage?

I seriously recommend adding fuel injector cleaner. Go to an auto parts store and grab a small bottle called Lucas Oil Fuel Injector Cleaner. Ad it right into the gas tank just like when your fillin up. It will run through your engine with the gasoline, and it declogs your fuel injectors and cleans the carbon off of your pistons. Its like 5 dollars

Yeah and I have a cold air intake. Which I recommend you'll get a lil better mpgs with it. And I've heard injector do good. I still need to upgrade mine yet. And they sent to bad to install. Just gotta disconnect the fuel pump and run it till it dies. Then remove injectors and get better ones. Lots of threads about that on here.

Default injector cleaner

yea i have used that lucas stuff, i usually run a full can of seafoam thru every 3-4 tank....its 7 dollars here, it seems to work good, with good fuel (mobil or shell)

thanks for the tips, maybe i will work on other things and leave the mpg alone while its pretty good for a cherokee

Seafoam FTW!!! I will be adding some to my heep very soon. My gas mileage has gone really crappy lately. but that is more then likely due to my remote starting all the time. LOL I plan on pulling the spark plugs and checking them. Im lucky if I see 190 miles to 15.5 gallons . then again Im running about 5.5 lift, with 31's, 3.55 gears and a Fun stick(5speed manual). I know that the vacuum line which goes to the charcol canister in the front is leaking so that may be a contribution too? As for the 18-20 that is awesome, my 99 stock 4 door was lucky to see that on the highway!!!!

Default seafoam

i would be a little careful about seafoam, i use it thru gas alot, and it helps
i have done it thru the brake booster line, didnt get much (smoke as they say)
i got more going thru the throttle body

just fyi, be careful with it, it really work and it can really gum up some parts

i know a guy that poured some into his oil, well it removed the slude, and ruined his motor!

dont know how much he put it, but i do know his vehicle ran fine before he added that seafoam to the oil

just letting you know, little bits at a time
