Okay, so when i purchased my 1997 jeep cherokee it didnt come with a FOB. The guy who sold it to me never said anything about it. Being stupid not knowing much about jeeps, i decided to just go spend 40 dollars on a valiant- keyless entry system. I have that little black globe thing near my rear view mirror, does that mean i have keyless entry ? Should i just buy a new FOB? and now i dont know what to do with the brand new keyless entry system i just bought. please help explain

This guy might still have one for sale 25 bucks you can program them yourself, but he said "The infra-red system works within 1 foot of the exterior of jeep and aimed at receiver. No further." Unless you can find one way cheaper it does not seem worth it.

Found this as the way to program it. (No guarantee this works) Open the drivers side door and leave it open with the door lock lever in the locked position.
turn the ignition to the on position.
you then have 20 seconds to aim the transmitter at the receiver in the vehicle and press the unlock button on the remote and hold it for at least 5 seconds..when it accepts the programming, the door will unlock.
you have another 20 seconds to turn the ignition off and back on to lock the code in
