Default question about 99 limited im thinking of buying

im thinking of buying a 99 limited with 150k miles, it has a blown HG and he had it replaced recently and it blew again. we are not sure why. im not sure if a shop did it or if joe smoe did it so im not sure if he torqued it down right.

i pulled a code for a miss on cyl 3 but it seems to be running fine. i forgot to erase the code as it could be old.

he just replaced the radiator, water pump, and alternator.

im not sure if it is a late 99 or not.

why would the HG blow again?

could the head and or block be cracked?

Or warped? Perhaps overheated?

I'm no expert, but you're correct to be cautious.

Another thing, get under the XJ and look for rust. Rust is much harder to repair than that engine. I'm sure the engine can be repaired for $$$, rust not so easy.

well i bought it for $800 and he had the head gasket done by a friend of a friend last time and he was a half *** so if it is warped i have a guy that re-machines the heads for $50 and i have used him before and it was perfect.

the head thats on there now is from a 97 because he did his homework the first time so im good there.

it has prem. sound, all the windows work, the power seat work, it has new (within 2 years) paint, well maintained the first owner work as a auto tech for GM and his niece owned it and then the son of the GM tech and then me.

but thx for the concern and im sure you all will be seeing alot more posts from me in the future.
