Default Question: 2000 Jeep Cherokee Freedom Edition

Hi, I am a first time forum participant. Could someone help me answer the following question?

What is a "Freedom Edition" for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee?

I am considering buying a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 Freedom Edition. I have learned that in 2000, 165,590 Jeep Cherokees were produced, but only 2,821 of that year were designated "Freedom" Editions. What does this mean? Is this good or bad? I don't know much about Jeeps, but I have always admired the clean, simple, rugged, "old school" body style of the original Cherokee and have heard great things about the rock sold drive train. Thank you for your help!

I think the main thing was 16" limited edition wheel, slightly different interior design, label and I believe the upcountry suspension package...That's what I seem to remember..

Thumbs up

I know this is an old thread but I ordered my 2004 Freedom Edition in April of 2003. It is Metallic Blue Pearl Coat with the 4.7 HO option, tow pkg. and hd suspension and has been a great vehicle to date with very few issues. I have had only 2 recall warranty claims 1st being the rear diff vent tube leaked and the 2nd having an ac condensation issue leaking on the passenger side. The issues were promptly corrected by the dealer and other than that this Jeep has been nothing short of amazing. The mpg is acceptable with the 4.7 HO (combined avg. 18.7 with 373 gears for towing) at today's gas prices and the ride is great for a full time 4x4 with HD suspension.

Hello fellow Jeeper!
Yes you are right as far as I have found also. I too own a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Freedom. As far as I can tell the only difference from a Sport is that it has a chrome grill and no moldings and the fender flares are black not painted. I have the window sticker and a couple things include the package one being the chrome grill. Mine was bought new and completly worked over from American Expedition Vehicles in Montana. I was told they made only a hand full of Cherokee's and moved on with the TJs and other Jeeps since Jeep was not to make the XJ after 2001.
Hope this helps!

To the Op, nothing worth paying any extra for. Its an apperance package, nothing performance related. HTH.

I picked up the engine and t-case skid plates from one. Too bad the people at the wrecking yard set it down on its gas tank skid , bent beyond repair.
