long arms won't work with drop brackets.
go the long arm route and just get or make a crossmember.

Well if your ultimate goal is a better quality ride, let me just tell you that I recently had drop brackets put on the XJ. Along with the steering mods (Currie, Durango box), this thing rides beautifully. With about 5" lift I expected a change in ride quality, but I didn't realize just how really ****ty the ride had become until the drop brackets went on. Unbelievable. OP, get some real rear springs and drop brackets. They feel more stable than LAs and cost far less.

And I agree 1000% about the RRO drop brackets. I love the design, they look the beefiest of all the kits I have seen, but I went with RCX for 2 reasons. 1) Quite simply, Rocky Road sux to deal with, and 2) their kit wasn't on the shelf so there was a waiting period.

As far as Rocky Road. I love their adjustable lower control arms with the jonny joints, are they worth $209?

dont mean to hijack, but do those brackets lower the control arm mounting points too far to be used with a 3" lift?

Just get the rough country long arm 4.5" full leaf kit. comes with 2.2 shocks, skid plate for ur t-case, long arms with flex joints, etc. if you stay at 4.5 instead of 6.5 you will have an even better ride quality. thats honestly your best shot if you want all that stuff.

My experience with Rocky Road's stuff is that they are super beefy & well engineered. I have done business with them more than once ... but never again. I would have got their DB's except that they are not a good company to do business with ... their Customer Service simply does not exist plus they have some questionable practices. Throughout Jeep boards you will find the same complaints about them again and again ... and they have been run off of eBay under different names more than once. Buy at your own risk.

RCX is Rough Country. I got their brackets for the price - compared to the Rubicon Express kit, which is the 3rd option for DBs. My personal preference for drop brackets in order of best to least-liked would be RRO, RE, RCX. I got the cheapest one for the reason above and because it was around Christmas & I was already hemorrhaging money to upgrade the steering components. I have not been disappointed in the results ... but having said all that, I think they all offer the same results as far as ride quality goes. The real test (IMHO) would be how well they hold up on the trails. I haven't wheeled them yet.

I'll shut up now ...
