Default putting bigger wheels on a stock 96 XJ

so i am putting 31's on my XJ Stock rims which i believe are 15x7. I know that the 31's are 10.5 inches wide and can be squeezed on the stock rims, however i am looking at getting some 15x8-10 rims to handle the wider tires.
Are there are any issues with putting wider rims on a stock xj. ( i am aware of 31 tires rubbing, but my fenders have been trimmed so i'm not worried about that)
Will there be issues with wider rims on the stock that i might not be aware of.

You should be fine up to 4" over the width of the rim. So those 10.5's should be just fine on those stockers. But if you decide to go with the wider rims, then that is no longer an issue.

I can't say for certain, but you might rub on your control arms on tight turns with those 31's. Someone else will probably chime in who has run those and knows for sure. Maybe with a 10.5 it will be fine and I'm thinking of 12.5" tires.

i have the same question can i fit 31x10.5 on stock 15x7 rims and if so will they stick out past the fender. i hoping i can get me tires to hang out a little. the 31s will be put on with 3.5 inch lift.

i cant be certain they will fit on a stock rim but i dont see why not , i had 33x12.5's on my stock wheels when i had a bronco years ago , and with 31s you shouldnt have much rubbing with the wider wheels , i used to run 31x10.5 on 15x8 wheels with a 3 inch lift it rubbed slightly on the lower control arms but only when turned all the way and hitting some bumps , i never had and serious issues and they do stick out a little further then stock but that also depends on backspacing of the wheel

If you've trimmed your fenders they should fit fine, you will most likely have some rubbing issues somewhere where extra trimming will be necessary. And theres a pretty good chance they'll rub your LCA's.
