Default Pump slow after box swap

I recently replaced my old steering box with 300k+ miles on it with a used one out of a 98-99 xj. I also swaped in a good pump at the same time. Now it seems to be a bit slow and low on power but everything eles seems fine. My XJ is an 87 so Im wondering if there is a difference in the pumps or pressures from 87 to 99. Anyone else run into this issue? Im thinking im going to have to run a 99 pump...
