Yup. I've got mine out while I work on the floors and its horribly loud. Some people don't mind. Some folks cover it all up in bedliner, smother it in undercoating, or end up reinstalling the carpet. With just the bare sheet metal you lose heat fast in the winter, and a LOT of heat comes through the floor over the exhaust.
I recommend taking it out and seeing for yourself. At the least you'll be able to deal with rust.

I'm glad I pulled my carpet. Showed me just how much rust my floorboards had. Cleaned up what I could with a grinder, replaced front passenger floor (still need to do my side..) I have made it so the cargo area carpet is pretty easily removed incase it gets wet.
As mentioned there will be an increase in road noise but I've noticed very little temp issues inside the cab.. It doesn't get too hot here in the summers but our winters do get pretty chilly, but still not bad. I think your best bet is to pull carpet, asses/fix floorboards, apply a product like Monstaliner: http://monstaliner.com/ then replace carpet with original or replacement auto-carpeting. Some have adhesive backing that will really keep it in place. Good luck.

i just removed mine and bedlined it. i left the cargo bay carpet in tho so that my tools and gear isnt making a metal to metal sounds which i hate. and its much easier to clean mud out and other things that may have gotten in.

That's going in my cargo area and back of the rear seat when it's ready. Thinking about the rest of the floor but I actually kinda like carpet. lol

A Canadian chain named Princess Auto (seems that Harbor Freight is sorta similar, but this place also has farm and hydraulic supplies) carries a rubber material by the foot:
