yes you can pull both together. may even be easier than trying to seperate them. if your mechanically savy (i would say you probably are if your pullin the engine) drop the drive shafts and tc. pull the cross member and ****** em out as one piece. split em once you have it out.

once you have the engine all disconnected. pull front and rear drive shafts. pull the transfer case. of course any wires that may be hooked to the transmission or transfer case. make sure the rad and anything in the front are out of the way or removed so they dont get damaged. it will have to come out on a pretty extreme angle so it may help if you have it on jack stands or ramps to get enough clearance underneath to lower the rear of the trans to get the front of the engine high enough to clear the core support. have someone help, two sets of eyes always help and it will keep you from breaking anything including fingers.

Just need to make sure the chain hoist is positioned more towards the front of the motor so the front picks up more than the rear so that it clears the radiator support. The most important part is to take your time.

I would pull the tranny out first myself. If you've already got the tcase and drive shafts off, you're halfway home. The first time I pulled the tranny off I learned the hardway those top bolts are torx and ended up busting a crappy socket until i figured out it was torx. Just drop the crossmember on a jack, lower the jack until you got a good angle then use a couple extensions and go for it.
