Pulling an ax15 & 231 this weekend, any tips...
I have swapped a 4.0 on a 99 but never pulled the tran & tc. Doing both this weekend, any advice would be very much appreciated. I am doing it by myself and plan to pick up a transmission lift before I go.
Btw, I have the t12 socket and extensions. I am thinking drop the cross member first and the torx should be a lot easier to access?

This was a bear!
Might have been easier with help. Just took my time and tried to stay patient and not bust too many knuckles. Stripped one of the T12s, first one popped right on the bolt with out even being able to see it through the transmission hole, second one stripped. Had to pound a 9mm on it, got it then.
Bought a tranny jack and harbor freight and it worked out fantastic. Took about 6 hours. I had everything disconnected but couldn't get the tranny to slide out, turns out the shift lever was backed against the tranny hump so I just took some hd pliers and pealed the metal back and she slid right out. Could get the lever out when I started but it popped right out at the end.
Being muddy, wet and broken glass every where in the jy didn't help...
