Default Puked atf out the dipstick

89 aw4 ran a little hot on the way to the trail then smelled ATF burning stopped to check it out leaking out the vent pulled dip stick and she puked ATF and sounded like it was boiling over refilled and she pulls fine did a little riding and drove 40 miles home should I be worried or just glad to have changed the fluid

The only thing I could think of is that your tranny cooler has gotten a little clogged up. I cleaned out my cooler with Kooler Kleen. I think I bought it at oreily and I no longer have overheating problems

Thought the cooler blew and was greeting coolant in the trans but not the case have 2 trans coolers and the radiator inline not that they don't get clogged

Dump and refill the trans if you haven't. Once the fluid overheats it needs to be replaced.

It got 6 new qt of cheep **** so I'd like to change it again but first I'm still wondering if the trans is screwed or not I know overheating is bad for em

Thinking it was slipping out of lockup at highway speed and that over heated it.

I've read that overheating the AW4 will cause the condition you described.
