Exclamation Protecting the ECU/Battery???

As a few of you know i have been building up my cherokee and today was the first time i took it off roading.

Yep, shes no longer a Mud Virgin... One thing i was worried about was the computer.. how can i cover it and keep it from getting wet from water and mud? Will it get hot like pc's do? What about the battery? Is there anything else i should keep dry aswell, and if so how do I do it?

You can remove it from the mounting point, make a sealed box for it and mount that where it was with the ecu in it and seal the wires entering the box with silicone. The batter, just use batter terminal grease on the terminals and put dielectric grease on all your plugs and connections.

the only thing i don't like is sealing the computer off with now air flow, it will get hot, and probably fail with no air.

This is a good point, i would just seal all connectors wiht dielectric grease and if you can open the shell seal the seams with grease too. Otherwise i would not worry too much unless you submerge it i dont think you will hurt anything, ive gotten my entire engine bay soaked before and it was fine.

The OEM cover that is on the ECU protects it from mud and water just fine. Don't seal it in an extra box because, I too, believe you would have overheating problems. I have pressure washed my engine bay countless times. All I cover with a plastic bag is the throttle body and distributor. The battery is fine so long as the connections are tight. If you want a cheap corrosion prevention and "keep them dry" hint is dap some Vasoline on them. I seriously have been doing this to my vehicles for years.
