Default Proper Bump Stopage...

Sense my XJ is stock height but its been sitting around with the 35"s on it, i been thinking on going ahead and installing the bump stops i need on all 4 corners while its still low to the ground and closer to everything. Im thinking it'll be easier to do like it sits. Would it be? If so, how is it exactly everyone gets correct measurments for proper bump?.. I have quite an idea about it, but honestly never built an XJ or anything i really had to worry about tires gettin into the fenders or flex like this thing is going to..

And yes i do have 35"s on a stock height XJ....

you have 35's on a stock xj? show some pics. I am going thru bumpstopping right now too. I have a 4.5" lift with 32's and i extended my rears 4.5", The axle hits the bumpstop right before the tire hits the fender flare. Problem is for me is the bumpstops gives a little and allows for more up travel, might extend the rears later. as for the front, i bought rusty's extended bumpstops (28 bucks) i havent installed them yet but have heard they will be about perfect. look into the hockey puck idea, do a search for it, there are a couple of recent threads about it.

This is a good question! how is everyone figuring out the lengths for their bump stops? I'm about to install a 4.5" lift and 32's and want to be able to get as much flex out of it as I can.

All im tryin to figure on is bump stop'n up travel. Down travel i can handle, if i have to use chains for straps, like i have a few motors lol. Oh and a pic of my stock height XJ on 35"s has been posted in the first post.

The way a lot of ppl figure it out is they flex their rig to just before they touch sheetmetal, then add another 1/2". As for what you use... search young Jedi.

I use my front inner fenders as my bump stops up front
