Hello again after about 5 years.
Sorry for my english but i'm from Greece.
The problem starts before 5 years. The engine stop runing after about 10klm and start again after 2-3 minutes. After a year The engine starts and sop after 2 minutes and start again after 2-3 hours. Now dont start at all.
I hane change:
Crankshaft sensor
Distributor sensor
Fuel pump
Try another ECU
For the last 4 years i made only 300klm with my XJ

Whats missing when it wont start spark or fuel ? Coil been changed ?

The ignition coil was bad in my 94 Cherokee. It had the same symptoms as yours. It would run then leave me stranded somewhere. Sometimes it would fire right back up.

Resumes after some work.
After standing one year I tried today to start the engine,successfully
After a while i see that the alternator was stuck
I managed to spin by hand but when the engine working not turning.
I have electric power normally.
Fuel normally.
As for the ASD, the engine can start and when its hot shut down or if the ASD failed the engine wont start at all?

 

That JEEP will drive me crazy....
Yesterday I played with it as follows.
I threw CLEANER brake in evry plugs i found.
While turning the rope,threw CLEANER brake in the eye of the crank. Curiously (hea @ n @ a would say) took fire (CLEANER + signal from the eye)
After for about 1 hour trying to start the engine but when it starts after seconds stoped(I stopped for the battery)
At the house i check value for the wiring of the switch 65 € after market and € 150 ORIGINAL (thought seriously)
I saw on the internet how to measure the ignition coil (although I've changed)

Today at 14:00 I do the tests to the ignition coil. All okay and the measurements with multimeter properly.

Start the engine and work fine for over half an hour !!!!

Probably from yesterday until today the break cleaner do the job in plugs? it panicked by the fire and thinks it will fly like fireworks? : Mrgreen:
However work fine. Would check again tomorrow and the day after and see.
However today I am happy as a Jeeper after 4-5 years ...
