Default Problem with my first XJ

Hey guys,

i just bought my first XJ. It is a 1992 MOdell and has 40000 miles on it.
So far Motor, Tranny everything is in great condition. What i noticed yesterday. ( i am trying to explain it, but i might be hard because i am German and my englich is not the very best ). I turned around in my yard/pavement in a really small radius. Steering wheel all the way to the left, or to the right, does not matter. I was goin really slow backward, forward. It kindda felt like rubbing. Something from the rear axle. Kindda felt like it would have a hard time turning the rear wheels on the inside of the turn. As i said, it is my first one. It is totally stock. All the oils are brand new. Might just have to get used to it and it is from the rear diff ( kindda like a locker maybe ). Or maybe something from the driveshaft.

Any ideas, please help.

Is that a typo - 40,000 miles on a '92?!?

Anyway, as to your question, it wasn't in 4x4, was it?

+1 sounds like wheel hop from the front axle being engaged.

Also could be a Limited Slip Differential running without the special additive.

40k! Very nice!

Where at in Germany? Beautiful country. I was stationed in Zweibrucken back in '91-'91. Could be your rear brakes rubbing or your parking brake not disengaged. Also, you could check your u-joints on the rear drive shaft and make sure they are greased. Have you check the fluid level in your rear differential and transfer case? Those are the first things to come to mind. Also, check the clearance of the rear tires to make sure that they're not rubbing.

Hey guys,

nope, wasn´t in 4 wheel drive.
And yes original 40000 klicks. Parked in the garage all the time. Older peoples car. Colour is in mint condition. Only thing. I do not have a remote anymore for the central locking system. Gotta use the key on the driver door and use the button then.
And the cruise control does not work. I am looking into that next week.

All oils have been changed 2000 miles ago. I checked it. The oils look brand new. Motor, Tranny, Diff everything.

U Joints, what the hell was that again ...........end of the drive shaft right ? Long time ago i learned englich........long time ago

And yes it slipped my mind too that it might be some looking in the rear.
It is a limited with the selec trac. But i would´t think that they had like a locker in the back or something.

I live a little bit outside of Frankfurt, up in the hills, Countryside. Nice up where i am. BUt still sucks for laws and regulations on lifted trucks !!

And one thing for sure, it is a hell lot diffrent than my 85 Chevy 3/4 ton.

Oh, so i was hoping that it has something to do with sort of locking in the back .....and that it is normal.
