Problem I haven't seen a answer to
Hoping this will fix my O2s heat problem. My ASD relay socket in the Power Distribution slot #2 the socket for the relay is loose. How do I open that beast up to get at the gutz???
97 Jeep Cherokee Neutered (2wd) 4dr 4.0 HO w/ AW4 trans originally tested no voltage on pin 1 on the b1s2 plug. Have tested for voltage or continuity through the entire circuit, and no problems found untill after I had tested the ASD relayand decided to by-pass the ASD relay to see if I got voltage to pin 1 then, and I saw the connector slide down as I pushed the by-pass wire in the socket. |
Disconnect battery pdc should come apart fairly easy .

Found this link/thread for ye.
Plenty of pics, might find this helpfull, shows how to remove the PDC too. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ho...center-174498/ |
I missed the first set of tabs. Got it now and thanks. Will post back if this solves my problem or not.

Well the little tabs that hold the ASD relay socket broke off, waiting for JBW to dry now, just another thing to add to the list of mysterious electrical problems. Oh yeah I noticed While it was open there was a couple more relay clips with the same problem, almost just filled the whole section with JBW.
Once JBW is set will reassemble and retest. I have noticed that a couple of O2S testing mention that the ECU might not power up the O2S Heater circuit if it is just Key on-Motor off. Is this true? |
Hours wasted, checking voltages and conductivity 7 ways to Sunday and wracking my brain against the fac service manual trying to find something I missed...:censored: When checking you O2S heater circuit for power engine must be running, not engine off key on despite what the guide I was using said.(Wasn't from this forum I have learned a lesson.) Tried it since no one answered my last post, and had voltage and ground tested fine and so did the Ohm test downstream O2S heater error now gone. I guess the broken tabs in the PDC was my problem. I just hope that the JB Weld holds didn't use much.
