problem getting worse! need advice!!!! asap
when i start it cold it makes a pretty bad grinding noise. it use to do it just when it started so i thought it might be the starter going out, but now it continues after i start it for a few miles. if i shut it off then start it back up it does not make the noise. it seems to make the same noise when im turning or when i hit a choppy part in the road. im so confused on what it might be, hope its not the tranny. but just need to know what it is so i can fix it. i dont know much about starters but if its that, let me know. thanks for any help, i really need it.

It may very well be the starter. The armature has a direct ground to it. If this breaks or comes lose it allows the starter gear to run on the flywheel. I had a similar situation after I changed a rear main. I tore it apart four times before relizing the sound was comming from the starter. Took it to get tested and it passed. So I put it back in still made noise. Took the starter out and put in new one, NO NOISE. Lota work for a stupid starter. May also want to check cables to starter they may simply be lose on bad connection.
