^ did you put it into your brake booster too or just into the gas tank cause if you only use it in the gas tank it will barely smoke

yea its all about how dirty the engine is, its its been very well maintained its whole life or recently rebuilt it wont smoke. I've done it to lots of cars and it allways lets me know how dirty the engine is by how much smoke comes out. With my new jeep it was ALLOT.
On my bmw the first time I did it when I got it it was ALLOT, now I do it every 10k miles and its only a little.

oh yea it only smokes if you directly put it in the intake not in the gas.

No "crazy *** smoke" came out, NO NOTHING?!?! This baffled the hell out of me....considering I always thought, afterwards, your vehicle was supposed to blow smoke out like a MF'er. Mine did no such thing.

The reason why I used 2 cans, was because I thought I didnt put enough in the 1st time, so I went and bought a 2nd can.

But all Im gonna say is, nothing happened, NOTHING, when I used seafoam.
Just where did you pour in the SeaFoam?

Well then I may have to clean those plugs, but i let it sit for a good hour and went out expecting it to struggle to start and it started right up. Let's just see if that carries over till mourning.

I put it the brake booster, fuel tank, and engine.

Nothing...

My XJ has around 188,XXX miles on it.

I havent even owned'em a year yet...

Before I bought, I test drove and ran fine...just need ALOT of body work, of which 75% is done, replaced both fenders and 3 doors, this spring Im gonna fix the rockers and drivers footwell.

The only thing is my high idle issue, thats it...but I had that before the seafoam anyway.

Can you be more specific?

Into the vacuum line between the booster and engine?
Into the booster?

OK folks, I have said this many times before. Do not dump into the intake unless you want to change your O2 sensor too. While you are busy putting all that smoke out, you damage it. You will have to change it out before it will run right. If all you want to do is clean out the carbon in the combustion chamber, just dump a can in a 1/4 tank and go for a drive. It is not dramatic, but it works and it won't cost you any extra. I have verified this by a tear down afterwards so I know it works.

Good! the fact that there was no smoke is confusing for sure.

When my engine was treated, I started pouring (into the suction ) at the booster and noticed that there was just a hint of smoke. Mind you that the engine was hot. I continued to pour faster until the smoke became obvious. Then poured until the engine stalled. After a 5 minute wait, the engine was fired and I immediately ran up one the the grades forcing the engine to pull hard. This also keeps the cat HOT to burn off any debris that loosens and is blown out the exhaust.

BTW the O2 sensor was not affected. As the directions indicated.

This is the fourth time I have posted that. Been strongly disagreed with every time so far. It is just not necessary to dump that much down the intake. It can, as has apparently happened this time also take out the O2 sensor.

You confuse the F*** out of me...
I have said nothing about pouring it in the intake.

Why the hell are you telling me this?!?!

And besides...
Its only common sense NOT to pour it into the intake.

Meh. It can be poured into the intake, but the more gentle introduction of seafoam is through the gastank. Just a wee bit at a time if you're going right down the intake. That's a concentrated dose if you think about it. Neither method cleans the vac lines very well, but if you're going to clean them just suck up a capfull.
Seafoam is an XJ elixir that should be used in moderation.
Look at your plugs for signs of scorching or glazing (google:spark plug analysis).
Listen for hissing sounds above and below your engine.
I wonder if it would be a good idea reset the ECU to compensate for newly-cleaned injectors...?
From my experience an engine can run either extremely lean or extremely rich after seafoam, especially depending on how it is used.

I guess I should have added I always take out my o2 sensor when I do a seafoam, just to be safe, not only does it allow the crap to come out the hole before the cat but it wont hurt the sensor, obviously. Anyway I can't believe theres so much debate about seafoam when its been around forever. Every car fourum I have been to has so many threads about and so many people confused. I've been using it for 8 years on dozens of cars, never one bad result all good results!

If you want to clean your vacuum lines take them off and spray out with carb cleaner, and well as all the valves and nipples, seafoams reallt not supposed to do that.

anyway as already suggested here, take out your o2 sensor and clean it. and clean ur plugs like ive already said.

ITS SIMPLE STUFF!

AND AGAIN! GO HERE TO LEARN EVERYTHING ABOUT IT AND HOW TO USE IT!! THERES EVEN A VIDEO!
