Default Problem.

Hey everyone, i havent been on here for a while, keepin up with school, or trying. So heres the deal: i got my 96 xj and me and my dad put a 3.5 Rubicon Express Superride on it. It was a crazy amount of work to get on but its done. Now that i got it lifted, it needs a few more things and i cant afford them becuase im broke as all hell in college. The two problems i have are death wobble and drive shaft vibes. I need a front end alignment and i think new tie rod ends but im not sure, and prolly a transfer case drop but like i said i cant afford anything. Im thinking about trying to just get rid of it and cut my loses. idk. any idears?

If you get rid of it then you still have to spend $ on something else. I say fix it. A tc drop is only $20 to 40. Get it aligned and that might get rid of the vibration and help with the dw. Good luck.

you can do the alignment yourself, might not get it as exact as a shop would but it will be close and will save you some cash. as for driveline vibes, the tcase drop will only be a band aid until you can afford an sye.

Could always do a "Redneck DIY" tcase drop. Nothing some good hardware and a hockey puck cant fix.

ef that. if i get anything its gonna be another jeep or another firebird. and i dont wanna quit i cant afford it.

im more worried about that death wobble than the drivetrain vibes. my friend with the wrangler knows how to do the home front end alignment with a board, nail and a piece of chalk or something. ill take his word for it, he knows his stuff. so you guys think if i get an alignment it'll help the dw a bit?

Most of the time the death wobble is caused by a worn track bar bushing. $20 will fix that. Another $30 will fix the drive line vibes. That is probably less then y our beer budget.

i just put it the rubicon express adj. trac bar with the rubicon express lift. and RE steering stabilizer. is it possible i dont have it at the right length? or could those bushings be a bad batch?

did you get new tires put on? if so, they might need to be balanced.

do the alignment and see what that does. then check all the bolts from the lift, anything you can put a wrench on, make sure it's tight.

i will almost promise that your death wobble probs are from diff angles on you drag link from your pitman arm and your track bar mounting points have to be at the same angle and all of your ball joints and tie rod ends have to be in good shape if they are wore then they will cause the prob. but the biggest prob on lifted jeeps is the drag link and track bar mounts not bein in a straight line. yu should be able to run a straight line and hit all 4 at the same time. the track bar mount on the frame the pitman arm the track bar on the axle and the drag link on the steering arm.
