Preventative blend door repair question

Preventative blend door repair question
The AZC system in my 99 WJ is working fine now, but I removed the driver's side blend door actuator and noticed that the white stop tab is busted off the drive shaft. This being the case, I'm undoubtedly going to experience the common door failure unless I can come up with a preventative repair for the broken stop tab. I'm considering pulling the white drive shaft out and drilling in a roll pin where the broken stop tab is located. Has anyone tried this? Will it work, or am I going to create more problems than I have now?

I recently tried a similiar repair on a 07 dodge ram, only lasted about a month.....supposedly can get updated parts now that are better........
