well i did several different searches on here and turned up little results. But i just was looking at what it would take to make a semi-decent DD pre-runner style XJ that can be used to play in the desert thats somewhat cheap, i know nothing is cheap but a somewhat decent setup that isnt as expensive as the big time hotshots. Oh and i wouldnt be racing in jeepspeed
thanks
thanks

Search for "Jeep Speed". There's a ton of info on Naxja about it. I think its a racing series that they use XJ's in. Desert type racing.

Naxja has a whole forum section on it. Good stuff there. A prerunner setup is not theoretically that hard of a build. An XJ is a great platform to start with.
Lockers, Lift. You dont need rock sliders or a heavy bumper. Get one that is light but effective for mounting lights and what not. Also make sure you have a good amount of space in your wheel wells. don't cram the biggest tires in there you can, but rather one that is effective with a lot of treat. Mud terrains actually are not the best for a prerunner but rather something more like a very aggressive all terrain. In the end the basic of a prerunner is to be able to fly through the dessert at high speeds and not bounce and flip over. If you lift and can afford it go with a long arm setup it will help very much. Just do your research and you can find what you need easily.
