Sorry by "lock switch" I meant for the power door locks, not the window lockout. From what I've read, it seems the symptom of a bad lockout switch is that the windows only work from the master door controls. Mine don't work from master or individual door switches. I'm gonna go plug the power window switch into the power door lock to see if it still works, that should tell me for sure if the window switch is bad.

Well toasterknight, you've got me going in the right direction. I popped off the switch panel and moved the switch cluster over one row, and the drivers side windows started working! And the driver window switch worked for the door locks as well. I could leave it as is but then I'd have no passenger window control. I really wish my junk yard had a master switch panel/cluster I could've picked, that would be a very easy fix. I suspect now that the issue is with the brass backplates that jump the switches to each other in series, since I know all the switches work. I'm gonna pull it apart tonight and put a drop of solder on the contact points for the backing plates and see if I can fix the panel I have. If not, does anyone have a master switch panel I can buy? I'll post in the for sale section if I can't get this to work.
The issue is your DDM (Driver Door Module), also known as your Master Control Switch on the driver's side. The solder breaks for the lockout button and only allows intermittent control from the other passenger seating positions. If you are careful and good with a soldering iron you can pry the module apart and resolder it. Of course, to do it correctly you should heat up and remove the old solder, which is a PITA. I think Dorman sells replacement modules at any of your local auto parts stores though. Good luck!
open up the drivers door and peel back the rubber tube that goes between the door and the frame and look for broken wires. You may have to peel the tube out from both ends. Quite often there is a wire broken in there and most of the time it's the black one which is the ground wire for the switches but there could be more than one broken wire. If you find a broken wire don't just join the ends as opening and closing the door will loosen the joint and you'll just end up where you started. The best way to fix it is to solder the wires together and then shrink tube it.
Good luck.
Good luck.
(Hardest part of doing this fix was getting that dang rubber sleeve back in its place! Haha)

Not the correct way to do it. But it'll get you by while you decide it you want to fix it the right way. Don't do this if you have young kids as it will disable the passenger window lockout feature.
Hey guys,
Just bought a 1988 Cherokee XJ. Its insane, it has power everything. Two windows weren't working however (passenger front, passenger back). I took the door panel off the passenger front (mainly to open it because handle is broken too) and realized 2 wires weren't connected. Connected them and tried the window and it went down. Once I tried to go up though, it didn't work but I could tell it was trying to draw the power. Let me know what you guys think, even a trick to just get it up this once so its not half open tonight. Thanks!
