My power windows work on and off. When I open and shut my driver door all of them sometimes start working again. thinking it has something to do with a wire on the drivers side crimping in the rubber boot in the door jamb. Any one have this happen?
Thanks
Thanks
Yes that is a pretty common problem it is pretty tight in there but pull the boot back and if I am not mistaken it should be a black ground wire that is broken in half you should spot it pretty easy after the boot is pulled back far enough

it might be your child safety switch. I have a 2000 xj with the same problem. Some guy on here has some good pics of jumpering out the switch so all the windows work. here is the thread title just do a search of this.......Window-lock out bypass (solves the issues of window switches not working) did this to mine and everything works great...minus the safety lock of course
I've got a similar issue for a 1994 Cherokee Country (so the 97+ bypass trick doesn't apply here afaik) that I'm having trouble tracking down. Here's the deal:
None of the passenger windows work from their switches, but they all work from the driver master switch. The door locks do not work at all. The driver window does not work at all and is currently stuck down - it cannot be manually moved. I replaced the driver master control switch as some of the switches were physically broken anyway, no change. When you try and move the driver window up or down via the switch, there is absolutely no noise coming from anywhere in the door panel. I think there is power to the wires going into the motor, if I did the test on my multimeter correctly. I've checked for any split/frayed wires in the door panel and in the boot in between the door and chassis and all wires are in great condition.
Can anybody help point me in the right direction? Is it the motor, the regulator, some wire somewhere else I haven't looked? What specifically should I test and how should I go about testing it?

I have a '96 Grand Cherokee. The problem that I am having is that one day my passenger side windows simply stopped working. Neither one of them will roll down from the individual door controls nor from the driver side master control. Also not functioning is the remote keyless entry for any of the doors and the power mirror on the passenger side. Both of the windows on the driver side go up and down using the door controls and the master driver side control and the driver side power mirror also works fine. I checked the boot for any sign of frayed or broken wires and found none. Any ideas what could be causing my issues?
I had the same problem. My rear windows wouldn't work at all and the fronts would only work with the driver's door closed and only from the driver's switch. Following advice I found by searching this forum I pulled back the rubber boot and saw nothing obviously wrong. The wires were wrapped and the wrap wasn't cut or damaged in any way so I assumed nothing was wrong with the wiring and went on to other possible problems. Nothing corrected the problem so I thought I'd pull the wiring harness from the kick panel to the door. When I unwrapped the harness I found six wires broken / cut. So, pull the wiring harness and unwrap everything.
