I'm rebuilding my power steering gear box and the 18mm nut on the low pressure return line froze/rusted to the hard line and won't spin freely on the line. I have it loose from the gearbox, but can't take it out. I ended up bending the hard line at the first 90.

Does anyone see an issue with replacing it with just a plain 90 fitting (off the shelf) or is there some functional issue as to why I would need the other 2 bends? I'd rather not take the time to drive to the boneyard when I don't need to...

Nope. I don't see a problem, as long as it's the same kind of fitting. But be careful - all fittings are NOT created equal. That's not just house plumbing.

I see you're stupid like me. You leave your watch one, get it all greasy, then when it's time to clean up and your hands are a mess, you wish you had taken it off before you started!

It's a special tube and fitting.

Go to your nearby NAPA store - they have what you need. That's where I got mine.

Gracias-I called over to NAPA and came up with zilch. I think I'll drive over with it and see what they can come up with.

PS-that's my "gettin' dirty" watch....you should see how nasty my phone is from taking all those pictures...
