Default power steering problem

I just got a 96 Cherokee drove home great in 2 wheel drive when i put it in 4 wheel drive the pressure hose for power steering burst and got a hole in it i was wondering if anyone else had that problem and if it was caused by the 4 wheel drive or was it just a coincidence.

There is no connection between the 4WD system and the power steering system. I would have to say its an annoying coincidence.
